Seventy-one year old Puleti Leona Mngomezulu was elated when she finally received the keys to her brand new 4 bedroomed house, courtesy of Transnet (SOC) Ltd through an intervention by South Africa’s youngest angels, Nthuthu- ko Soul Buddyz Club.

The  house  was  officially  handed over by Mr Sibusiso Ngomane, Senior Manager: Communications and Special Projects at the Tran- snet Foundation, at a ceremony in Esithangamini, about 40km north of Nongoma in KwaZulu Natal. It boasts 4 bedrooms, a lounge, kitch- enette, shower and toilet. There are also 3 water tanks outside to har- vest water from the rains. An electricity connection is due any mo- ment. The house also has a water system and a geyser.

It is now fully furnished with 5 beds, kitchen cupboards, TV stand and TV, 4 wardrobes, a stove, sinks and a fridge. Also handed over was a 21 piece pot set, bedding includ- ing sheets, blankets and curtains.

The Soul Buddyz Club is yet to buy plates and mugs. Burglar bars will soon be installed for improved security.

Mr Ngomane said: “We would like to thank our partners, the Depart- ment of Education and Nthuthuko Soul Buddyz Club for their undy- ing efforts to bring this project to reality. We are happy now that the new Mngomezulu house is now complete and being handed over to gogo Mngomezulu.

This is part of what the Transnet Foundation does within our com- munities – to try and uplift those in need and give them strength and hope to look up to the future.”

Ntuthuko  Buddyz  Club  recog- nized the plight of the 71-year old mother and created worthy part- nerships with government and pri- vate organisations with the aim of helping the family. Transnet Foun- dation  Grant  Beneficiary  Gogo Mngomezulu had 10 children, 6 of them are late and is now survived by 4 who are not working. She has 3 grown up grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
