Phelophepa Healthcare Trains undergo a refurbishment programme

Transnet’s Phelophepa Healthcare trains will commence a maintenance programme after servicing over 150 000 patients across the country in the past few months. The two Phelophepa Healthcare trains (I and II) are heading back to Salt River, Cape Town at one of Transnet Engineering’s maintenance site for annual refurbishment programme. The two trains operates simultaneously from January to October offering primary health care to remote communities.

Sandisiwe Mdluli (15) aka Sandi was one of the fortunate few in the Transnet Orphans Programme that actually, for the first time, flew in to Johannesburg for the Life Skills Workshop. “An amazing experience,” she exclaims. “I was a bit stressed by the possibility of a crash, but also excited and couldn’t sit still. At take-off, it was scary but fun and my tummy started turning, but I soon relaxed and enjoyed the ride. I surely can do it a million times,” she explains.

Transnet Foundation hails two sports tournaments a success

Transnet Ltd’s corporate social investment arm, Transnet Foundation, has successfully hosted two sports tournaments, a one day in the Northern Cape and a three day tournament in KwaZulu Natal with resounding success. The KZN tournament kicked off of on Friday the 21st of June in Ixopo where the Foundation hosted the inter-schools competition, closely followed by the yet another on Saturday, the 22nd in Richard’s Bay and the Provincial final on Monday the 24th of June, 2013.
